Kinetic by Windstream Launches GIG Speeds in Blairsville

Friday, November 6, 2020

Blairsville, Ga. — Kinetic by Windstream, a long-trusted community partner for entertainment and internet services, announced a network upgrade to meet the connection needs of Blairsville.

Today at 10 a.m. the Kinetic by Windstream team held a ribbon cutting ceremony at Kinetic by Windstream Retail Store to celebrate the launch. State Senator Steve Gooch, Executive Director of the Union County Development Authority Mitchell Griggs, and Executive Director of Georgia Rural Broadband Program Deana Perry joined Kinetic President of Operations J. Berkshire for the honors.

Gig-speed service has been highly anticipated by residents of Blairsville. “Fast, reliable fast internet is critical to stay connected to what’s important,” said Berkshire. “In a year with more families working remotely, attending school virtually and depending on video calls to keep connected with loved ones, we are pleased to make sure residents of Jefferson have what they need delivered to their door.”

Gig speed allows customers to stream favorite TV shows on Kinetic TV or YouTube TV instantly. Customers can use multiple devices at the same time without a lag in speed or losing connection. The upgrades mean Kinetic meets the demand for seamless voice, video, gaming and ultra-high definition TV service.

“Access to internet service is paramount to a growing community for economic development and educational excellence,” said Gooch. “As the State Senator of District 51, I have spent the past 4 years working to help expand rural broadband throughout Georgia.  I applaud J. Berkshire and the entire Windstream organization for their steady progress in upgrading their infrastructure.   The investment they are making is going to have a significant impact on our region for decades to come.”

Griggs agreed, “Broadband access is vital because it impacts every aspect of our lives.  In rural areas where availability has often been an issue, it’s particularly important because broadband provides opportunities for community and economic development where those communities might otherwise be left behind. With its investment into the new HSD network, Windstream will be able to provide Gig level service to the majority of its customers here in Union County, providing a critical service to our people and businesses when it is most needed and helping our community remain viable and competitive in the 21st century economy.”
